The following is the IP Lawful Access Submission regarding moving forward with legislation in Canada. In it we strongly recommend that data around the current use of Lawful Access and Customer Name and Address information in investigations be collected and analysed in order to form a basis from which to create new legislation and regulations.

U.K. Researchers Unsmudge Fingerprints

GCN has reported that “U.K. researchers have developed a technique for identifying fingerprints that have been smudged, clipped, distorted or otherwise badly recorded.” If this is true, the new technology should be a big help in crime scene investigations where prints left behind at the scene of the crime can be far from perfect.
