Sarkozy Calls On Russia To Renounce ‘Brutality’
September 7 2007 by The Systemic Analyst.
In a lighter vein, Sarkozy seems to be going about securing energy for his country in a strange way. Forbes has reported that “French President Nicolas Sarkozy today called on Russia to renounce the ‘brutality’ with which it is asserting itself and play a more constructive role in international affairs.”
Many world leaders have an increasing amount to say regarding Russian tactics on an international scale, much of it negative. It will be interesting to watch how relationships between Russia and other countries, such as France, develop given the growing dependency on Russia for energy supplies. Hopefully, relations between Russia and the west, in particular, won’t be too strained to find mutually beneficial solutions. Given the western tendency, however, to always perceive itself inculpable, such happy outcomes might prove elusive.
